Friends, Godly wisdom is the most vital, foundational pursuit in life.
I was listening to some preaching of Pastor Kevin Kabel said: For Solomon to declare wisdom the “principal thing,” he was declaring it the most important virtue, the most excellent of moral possessions and the chief quality available to mankind. Nowhere in the Bible is any other virtue declared the “principal thing.”
Wisdom is the PRINCIPAL thing.
Also according to Matthew Henry defines Wisdom as true religion and practical godliness—is the “principal thing.”
Wisdom requires diligent effort to attain and possess it.
Believers notes this that wisdom is rooted in the fear of God and involves setting a strict guard on our heart, as it is the foundation for all life’s actions.
Listen to these:
Proverbs 9:10
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
Job 28:28 “And he said to the human race, ‘The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.’”
In this passage, King Solomon urged his son, Rehoboam to prioritize godly wisdom and moral integrity. Shall we today prioritize godly wisdom and moral integrity?
Friends, We are instructed to take pains, effort, and active measures to acquire wisdom, not waiting for it passively. And while pursuing worldly goods or education, the primary focus should still be on gaining spiritual understanding and discernment. Spiritual nourishment.
Friends, listen we can practice daily reflection and prayer. Be intentional about filling our minds with uplifting content, knowledge, and healthy entertainment.
Taking time to process our thoughts and emotions daily. We must study the Word of God, pray, and listen to wise counsel to actively get closer and obtain it.
Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.
Wisdom is the PRINCIPAL thing.
Let’s pray: Eternal God, guard us from foolishness, give us wisdom. We ask this with total confidence. Oh God, make us wise we pray in Jesus’s mighty name Amen 🙏🏾.
