James 1:26 KJV “If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.”
Most people don’t have to go far from their homes to run into a hypocrite; could be the neighbor, lady on the bus, coworker, boss, maybe even spouse, child, or parent.
Feelings, emotion, and self-righteousness are usually the culprits behind someone deceiving themselves (not to mention the lack of routine self-evaluations).
James stated that any man (woman or child) who appears to be very religious, very holy and spiritual, and are not able to control their mouth is simply deceiving themselves. Their whole spiritual, religious, or pious walk is all in vain.
It’s like scoring a hundred points in practice and not playing in the game. Hitting home runs in practice, but striking out in the games; all of it is vain. The very first thing a person of the Most-High must be able to do is to control their tongue, thus controlling themselves.
Praise the Most-High today!

he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the
fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
