Psalm 23 The LORD is My Shepherd

Verse of the Day, November 20, 2020

Psalm 23:1-4 KJV “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. [2] He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. [3] He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. [4] Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

One of the most comforting Psalms in the book is that of Psalm 23 (we seem to relax just hearing the phrase name, “Psalm 23”). We all on this earth are like sheep, and far too oft we have been guided by the wrong shepherds.

This is why the beginning of this Psalm is so delightful; the LORD (YAHAWAH) is our Shepherd; because of this we have no wants as HE provides it all. HE will provide the green pastures and still waters of the Kingdom.

HE will also restore our souls; can you say new bodies, eternal bodies? From there we will be led down the paths of righteousness for HIS name’s sake and walk through dark valleys with no fear.

Valley’s of shadows of death may appear, but no fear comes upon us because our Shepherd is with us and HIS rod and staff comfort us. Praise ye the LORD!

Psalm 23 King James Version

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
