We Might Be Partakers of His Holiness

Verse of the Day, April 26, 2020

Hebrews 12:10-11 KJV “For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. [11] Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.”

People chasten or correct us after their own pleasure; parents, coworkers, bosses, and superiors fall into this category. Nevertheless, the ALMIGHTY GOD, He chastens and corrects us for our profit; this way we may be able to partake in His holiness and goodness.

We may be able to take part in the vastness of the world to come. It is vital to understand that the present chastening will by no means appear or feel joyful. It will have the opposite feeling, often resentful feelings can come from it, even grievous feelings.

If we can avoid getting ourselves caught up in the (negative) emotions that come with correction, be it soft or harsh, we will find victory or profit within the occasion. All honest, sincere, and truthful chastening yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness by those who exercise it correctly.

Hebrews 12 King James Version (KJV)

6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but
he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
