That They May Glorify God in the Day of Visitation

Verse of the Day, October 2, 2019

1 Peter 2:11-12 KJV “Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; [12] Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.”

Peter begs us as strangers and pilgrims to stay away from fleshly lusts that constantly take war against our souls. We must remember that we are amongst the nations (Gentiles), thus we should keep our conversation honest.

They may speak against us as evildoers if we do not circumspect our speech and actions to one another. Our good deed, good works shall speak for us so they may glorify God in the day of visitation.

Representing God

When asked how do we know we represent the Most-High? We simply reply, “We can show you better than we can tell you!” What do they see? our kind words to them and to each other?

They see our loving gestures, our kindness to the poor, needy, widow, and even to our co-workers. When John the Baptist’s disciples asked Jesus if He was the One who was to come, Jesus simply told them to report to John what they SEE!

The blind have their sight, the dead are raised, the cripple is leaping; in other words, His actions spoke for Him. He indeed said, “I AM SHOWING YOU BETTER THAN I CAN TELL YOU!”
