Whosoever Will Save His Life Shall Lose It

Verse of the Day, September 4, 2020

Mark 8:34-37 KJV “And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. [35] For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. [36] For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? [37] Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”

A word from GOD; in the deepest seat of our emotions we can want something good and honorable towards men, but it is dishonorable and even detestable towards the ALMIGHTY.

CHRIST shared with His disciples that HE would suffer many things and be rejected by the chief priests, scribes, and elders. He vigilantly lamented that He would be killed, yet in three days HE would rise again.

CHRIST spoke it openly, but Peter began to rebuke the LORD CHRIST. Peter went into what we’d call today, positive motivating speech. “Don’t say you going to die, LORD, be positive, plus we got you, LORD, you won’t die!”

Feel Good Vibes Men Desire Often are Not of GOD

CHRIST turned to HIS disciples and rebuked the rebuker; HE told Peter to get behind HIM, and HE called him Satan. Why? Because Peter savored the things that men would want and not the things that of or from GOD ALMIGHTY.

Did we catch that?

He then called the people to HIM along with HIS disciples and told everyone that if they want to follow HIM they must deny their personal ways. They must deny how they want the story of the Bible to go.

They can’t be the director, the LORD is the Director; HE yells ACTION and HE yells CUT! All we must do is pick up our cross and follow HIM. Whoever will save their life will lose it; and whoever will lose their life for the sake of CHRIST and HIS Kingdom will save their life.

There is no profit in gaining the world only to lose your soul! Praise ye the LORD!

Praise the ALMIGHTY today!

Mark 8 King James Version

28 And they answered, Iohn the Baptist: but some say, Elias: & others, one of the Prophets.

29 And hee saith vnto them, But whom say yee that I am? And Peter answereth and saith vnto him, Thou art the Christ.

30 And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.

31 And hee beganne to teach them, that the Sonne of man must suffer many things, and be reiected of the Elders, and of the chiefe Priests, & Scribes, and be killed, & after three dayes rise againe.

32 And he spake that saying openly. And Peter tooke him, and beganne to rebuke him.

33 But when he had turned about, and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou sauourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.

34¶ And when he had called the people vnto him, with his disciples also, he said vnto them, Whosoeuer will come after me, let him denie himselfe, and take vp his crosse and follow mee.

35 For whosoeuer will saue his life shall lose it, but whosoeuer shall lose his life for my sake and the Gospels, the same shall saue it.

36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gaine the whole world, and lose his owne soule?

37 Or what shall a man giue in exchange for his soule?

38 Whosoeuer therefore shall be ashamed of me, and of my words, in this adulterous and sinfull generation, of him also shall the Sonne of man bee ashamed, when he commeth in the glory of his Father, with the holy Angels.
